Staff Communique #6

Good afternoon Everyone,

The Government has announced that New Zealand can safely move out of Alert Level 3 at 11.59 pm on Wednesday 13 May.  Until then, we’re still at Alert Level 3, and all Alert Level 3 guidance and restrictions apply.

What happens in Level 2?

You will have more freedom of movement at Alert Level 2, but it’s up to each one of us to keep the rest of New Zealand safe.

These are the most important things that you can do:

  • COVID-19 is still out there. Play it safe.
  • Keep your distance from other people in public.
  • If you’re sick, stay home. Don’t go to work or school. Don’t socialise.
  • If you have symptoms of cold or flu call your doctor or Healthline and get tested.
  • Wash your hands. Wash your hands. Wash your hands.
  • Sneeze and cough into your elbow, regularly disinfect surfaces.
  • If you have been told to self-isolate you must do so immediately.
  • Important: Keep a track of where you’ve been and who you’ve seen.

We’ll say it again… wash your hands, wash your hands, wash your hands!

So, what does Level 2 mean for us at Kleenrite?

Most staff will be back at work.

All schools are opening on Monday 18 May.

As was the case under Level 3, some of our clients will have their own Level 2 Contact Tracing procedures for specific sites and you will need to follow these at all times.

Contact Tracing, including keeping your own personal log of where you’ve been, with whom and when, outside of home and work, is still vitally important and will continue.

What am I going to get paid during Level 2?

All pay returns to normal.

Any staff who were not working during Lockdown, and so were not eligible for the minimum wage increase on 1 April, will receive the increased wage rate from the first hour they work again under Level 2.

Can I still decide not to work and rather stay at home during Level 2?

Once again, we assure staff that we have and are doing whatever we can, as a responsible employer, to minimise any health and safety risks.

Your Manager will discuss your return-to-work plan with you before Thursday this week.

If you are sick or feel unwell, contact your GP, stay at home and the usual Sick Leave procedures and policies will apply, as per your Employment Agreement.  Please let your Manager/Supervisor know immediately if you have to stay at home.

We understand this has been a very tough time for a lot of us and we are grateful for everyone standing together to combat the spread of COVID-19.  Let’s continue to be careful, stay safe, and keep those around you safe.  We do not want to go back under Lockdown and undo the outstanding progress New Zealand has made.

Last, but not least, we give a massive shout out and thanks to those staff members who worked right through Level 4 and Level 3. We are truly grateful, your dedication and commitment have not gone unnoticed.
